Gloss laminates read darker and show fingerprints more than matte, so reserve them for accents, vertical panels and low-touch tops. Keep the protective film on until after cleanup, and bond to a well-flattened, smooth core because gloss telegraphs substrate defects. Cut gloss faces with the good side up using a fine-tooth blade and score-and-snap only with care to avoid chipping.
