Round patch disks speed up leak calls: cut away nothing, clean the field, prime and roll the disk down hard to avoid fishmouths. Keep a sleeve of 8 in. disks in the service kit for punctures from foot traffic and debris. For larger or seam-adjacent damage, step up to cut patch stock instead of forcing a disk to fit.
Membrane repairs on low-slope roofs carry slip and fall hazards; work from walk pads or fall protection and only apply patches to clean, dry surfaces.
