Expert Verdict — Reviewed by the SuperArbor Pro Desk
A proper starter course protects the vulnerable first foot of the roof, so match the starter color closely to the field tile for a clean eave line. Layout is simple at 20 linear feet per bundle, but order extra to cover hips intersecting the eave and handling waste. If your project uses Bellaforté or Province tiles, use the starter specified for those profiles instead.
Install starter tiles per the manufacturer's installation instructions and local building code, and use appropriate fall protection when working on roofs.
Get DaVinci Composite Universal Starter bundles in your color and start your slate or shake roof right.
