    Fans are listed by blade span, such as 52 in. Up to about 75 sq ft takes 36 in or less; 144 to 225 sq ft about 44 to 52 in; bigger rooms 52 in and up.

    A ceiling fan hangs from a fan-rated box or brace, not a standard light box.
