United Coatings Roof Mate Base Coat is a water-based acrylic base coat and is part of the Roof Mate Coating System. It is the first coating layer prior to applying the top coat. It utilizes the latest advances in acrylic technology to act as both a primer and base coat. It is a primer in that it improves adhesion of the top coat on all substrates and provides bleed blocking on asphalt roofs. It is also a Base Coat in that it builds film thickness necessary to protect the roof, and therefore it counts as the first coating layer.
