Before you order

• The wear layer decides the life of the floor. 20 mil and up is the heavy-traffic tier for pets, kitchens and rentals; 12 mil suits bedrooms. The listing’s warranty follows it.

  Maker warranties

• A plank with an attached pad skips the underlayment and quiets the floor. Without one, add the underlayment the install sheet allows.

• Subfloor flatness matters more than people think. The usual spec is 3/16 in over 10 ft; grind or patch high and low spots first.
