Coverage & How Much You Need:
Coverage depends on fastener density specified for the insulation system; typical commercial low-slope roofs use roughly one fastener plus plate per 2-4 sq ft, but follow the project's fastening pattern specification.
Fit and Compatibility:
Designed to pair with TruFast MP-3000 and MPR-3000 metal insulation plates, sold separately. Length selection depends on insulation thickness plus substrate penetration.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Q: What lengths are available?
A: 1-5/8 in., 2-1/4 in., 3-1/4 in., 5 in., and 6 in., with 3-1/4 in. packaged 1000 per box and others 100 per box.
Q: What substrates do these fasten to?
A: Corrugated steel from 16 to 22 gauge and wood substrates.
Q: Do I need plates?
A: Yes, for insulation attachment use TruFast MP-3000 or MPR-3000 metal plates, which are sold separately.
Q: Do they drill their own hole?
A: Yes, the #2 double flute self-drilling point drills and taps in one operation.
Q: How do I choose a length?
A: Add insulation and coverboard thickness plus the required substrate penetration; the manufacturer's fastening specification governs the final choice.
Expert Verdict — Reviewed by the SuperArbor Pro Desk
Match fastener length to total assembly thickness: the point must fully penetrate the steel deck or embed adequately in wood. The tapered entry thread resists back-out, valuable under thermal cycling. Use plates sized and specified by the insulation manufacturer to meet wind-uplift requirements.
Wear eye protection when driving self-drilling fasteners, as hardened point tips can break off at high RPM.
Order TruFast DP Fasteners in the length your insulation assembly calls for.
