A little know-how goes a long way.
01Measure the right opening+
Replacing only the slab? Record the existing slab’s width, height and thickness. Replacing the frame too? Record the rough opening and wall thickness. Check the manufacturer’s requirements for the exact model; a nominal door size is not a rough-opening size.
02Slab or prehung?+
A slab is the door leaf. A prehung unit includes a door installed in a frame. Hinges, threshold, weatherstripping, trim and lock preparation vary by model. Review what is included in the selected listing before choosing hardware.
03Get the swing right+
Check the selected variant’s handing and inswing or outswing specification. Manufacturers may describe handing from different viewpoints. Compare the manufacturer’s diagram with your opening and check clearance before ordering.
04Plan the order and delivery+
